US Loses 23,000 Jobs in July, Unemployment Rate Falls

US employers unexpectedly cut 23,000 jobs in July, while the unemployment rate fell to 4.1% from 4.2%. The estimate was for a gain of 80,000 jobs. Hiring over the previous two months was revised lower. Bloomberg's Michael McKee reports on the conflicting signals in the labor market data.
