Attackers compromised three country-code top-level domains—.gh, .sl, and .as—and obtained unauthorized HTTPS certificates for several Google domains, Google said on October 6. Google's systems weren't breached, but any domain ending in those ccTLDs was at risk. With such certificates, attackers could impersonate legitimate sites over encrypted connections, potentially intercepting data.
