Kansas City Fed president Jeff Schmid told Axios Thursday that the relentless rise in long-term interest rates is starting to affect more parts of the economy, including multifamily housing and commercial lending. Richmond Fed president Tom Barkin attributed the rise to the trillion-dollar AI buildout, while Boston Fed president Susan Collins said AI investment is driving solid growth despite higher borrowing costs.
