Microsoft's August 2026 security update is triggering 0xc0000409 errors on Windows Server 2016 systems running the Compatibility Appraiser diagnostic service. The bug affects a subset of servers and may lead to system crashes. Microsoft is investigating and has not yet provided a workaround.
