A former U.S. Army soldier was sentenced to 70 months in prison for hacking and extorting at least 10 U.S. technology and telecommunications companies between April 2023 and December 2024. The sentence, handed down on Friday, follows a scheme in which the soldier breached corporate networks and demanded payments to keep stolen data private. Authorities did not name the companies involved.
