Yemeni and Saudi forces launch counteroffensive against the Houthis

Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia launched a counteroffensive against the Houthis on Sunday to regain territory, said presidential council head Rashad al-Alimi. The operation aims to control the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, vital for global trade and Saudi oil exports. Tens of thousands of troops are participating, with Saudi air cover and airstrikes. The US provides intelligence but not direct combat.
