The House left town, but Hegseth impeachment, Epstein and a funding fight are waiting

House Speaker Mike Johnson sent lawmakers home until after the midterms, but they will return to a packed agenda: a showdown over impeaching Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, a renewed push for Epstein files, and a government funding deadline on Dec. 11. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) introduced an impeachment resolution, and he and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) claim enough support to force an Epstein files vote.
