Proposed diesel export ban pits GOP senators against each other

Senate Republicans are split over a proposal backed by Sen. Chuck Grassley and other farm-state Republicans to embargo diesel exports, aiming to boost domestic supply and lower prices. Majority Leader John Thune is open to the idea, but oil-state senators oppose it. The U.S. last used such an embargo during the 1970s energy crisis.
