6,600 noncitizens were registered to vote in N.J. because of a ‘software error,’ governor says

New Jersey Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill said a review found that nearly 400 noncitizens cast ballots in elections between 2023 and 2024 due to a software error that registered 6,600 noncitizens to vote. The error was discovered during an audit of voter rolls. Sherrill stated the issue is being addressed to prevent future occurrences.
