Cybersecurity researchers disclosed a local privilege escalation vulnerability in snap-confine, tracked as CVE-2026-8933 with a CVSS score of 7.8. The flaw impacts default Ubuntu Desktop installations of versions 24.04, 25.10, and 26.04. An unprivileged user can trigger it to obtain root access and gain complete control of a target environment.
