In July 2025, a domain belonging to a defunct content delivery network was re-registered after expiring. Thousands of websites, code repositories, and documentation pages still contain hard-coded references to hostnames under that domain, potentially exposing them to malicious control. The new owner now holds the domain, raising security risks for all dependent systems.
