How new cooling technologies could cut AC electricity demand

Engineers are exploring ways to keep people cool without driving up electricity demand as air conditioning use surges. A July study by Mat Santamouris of the University of New South Wales finds that keeping buildings cool without relying solely on AC will be critical for climate adaptation. AC can account for roughly half of peak electricity demand.
