Federal judge blasts ICE over "inhumane" NYC detention conditions

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan issued a permanent injunction against ICE, ruling conditions at a New York City detention center “inhumane and unconstitutional.” In a 127-page opinion, Kaplan found ICE deprived detainees of sleep, sanitation, hygiene, food, water, and medical care, and had “intentionally concealed or recklessly disregarded the truth” about compliance.
