Anthropic's Claude AI solved a 25-year-old NSA cryptographic puzzle in under 30 minutes. The model found the origin of five numbers from the NSA for elliptic curves standardized by NIST in 2000. Long suspected of hiding a backdoor, they came from an old pseudo-random generator fed by timestamps from 1997 and 1998.
