FCC votes to lift broadcast ownership cap

The FCC voted 2-1 on Thursday to eliminate the national TV ownership cap that barred a single broadcaster from owning stations reaching over 39% of U.S. TV households. Chairman Brendan Carr argued the cap was outdated. The FCC said deals will be evaluated case-by-case. A Nexstar spokesperson said the rule change helps broadcasters compete with tech firms and streamers.
