The ECB Wants Merchants to Test Its Digital Euro. Will They Sign Up?

The ECB is seeking e-commerce and mobile merchants to join a 12-month digital euro pilot starting in the second half of 2027. The test covers online, mobile, in-store, and person-to-person payments using a beta currency that is not legal tender. 36 banks and payment firms, including Deutsche Bank, Revolut, and BNP Paribas, have signed up.
