The European Central Bank launched Pontes on September 21, a wholesale settlement service for tokenized financial assets. Pontes settles transactions in central-bank money through TARGET Services and DLT interoperability. It is institutional infrastructure, separate from the retail digital-euro project, aimed at financial institutions seeking central-bank settlement certainty for tokenized securities.
