Music publishers sue Anthropic, allege "blantant theft" of copyrighted music

Music publishers, including Sony Music and Warner Music units, filed a federal lawsuit in northern California against Anthropic, CEO Dario Amodei, and co-founder Benjamin Mann, alleging massive copyright infringement. The 48-page complaint claims Anthropic illegally torrented and scraped copyrighted works to train its Claude AI models, seeking hundreds of thousands in damages per work.
