The Man Who Threw Away $900 Million and Spent 12 Years Trying to Dig It Back Up

James Howells, an IT engineer from Newport, Wales, mined 8,000 Bitcoin in the early days but lost the keys in 2013 when an encrypted hard drive was mistakenly thrown away and sent to the Docksway landfill. The High Court in Cardiff dismissed his claim in January 2025 and an appeal was refused in March.
