On September 12, 2026, researchers from East Texas A&M University’s RELLIS Campus published PQLN, short for Post-Quantum Lightning Network, marking one of the first concrete attempts to build a quantum-proof Bitcoin Lightning network. The protocol passed all 12 node tests, addressing the future threat of quantum computers to Bitcoin’s encryption.
