A brutal winter heating bill is coming for some homes

Families heating with oil could pay about 50% more this winter, with average costs rising by $878 to over $2,600, according to NEADA estimates. The Energy Information Administration projects electricity bills will rise 4%, while natural gas falls 9% and propane drops 3%. Northeastern households, consuming 82% of heating oil, face the steepest increases.
