White House official accuses Chinese startup of distilling Anthropic model, accessing banned Nvidia chips

White House OSTP Director Michael Kratsios accused Chinese startup Moonshot AI of distilling Anthropic's Fable model and accessing restricted Nvidia chips to develop its Kimi model. Kratsios said the administration has information supporting the allegations. The accusation marks an escalation in US-China tech tensions over AI model theft and semiconductor export controls.
