Trump backs Gruters’s reelection bid as RNC chair

President Trump formally backed RNC Chair Joe Gruters's reelection bid on Friday, following the party's widespread losses in Tuesday's midterm elections. In a statement, Trump said Gruters should return as chairman to continue building the party and ensure free and fair elections. The endorsement comes as the RNC faces internal pressure to change leadership after the electoral setbacks.
