Ethereum’s New zkAPI Tool Hides Your Identity When Paying for AI

The Ethereum Foundation launched zkAPI on mainnet on October 1, 2026. Users can pay for AI models and other APIs without revealing their identity by depositing ETH or USDC into a vault and using zero-knowledge proofs to authorize spending. The design was first proposed in February by Vitalik Buterin and Davide Crapis.
