Secret Service threat cases soar 40%

Secret Service threat cases have surged roughly 40% from last year, with about 10,000 investigations opened so far in 2026, spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi told Axios. Mental health interventions have increased tenfold from the same period last year. The surge comes ahead of Friday's rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner, after the original event was derailed by shots fired in the D.C. building where President Trump was to speak.
