Btcpay Server issued an emergency shutdown warning Nov. 1, 2026, after reports of attackers draining bitcoin from hot wallets on self-hosted payment servers. Founder Nicolas Dorier linked compromises to versions predating 2.4.2, while public servers running 2.4.7 remained unaffected. The warning came three days after an earlier incident.
