FDA approves first daily pill to drastically lower cholesterol levels

The FDA approved Lipfendra, a first-of-its-kind once-daily cholesterol pill from Merck. The drug reduces "bad" LDL cholesterol by inhibiting PCSK9 protein production. Lipfendra rivals the effectiveness of existing powerful drugs. This marks the first approval of a daily oral PCSK9 inhibitor for lowering cholesterol in adults.
