Texas welcomed the AI boom. Now Abbott says data centers "dug their own grave"

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said data center companies "dug their own grave" regarding local opposition. Abbott previously called Texas the "epicenter of AI development" when Google announced a $40 billion investment. He has since directed regulators to make data centers pay full electrical infrastructure costs and ordered audits of grid connections. Other governors, including in Pennsylvania and New York, have also imposed new restrictions.
