He honored Khamenei. Then he broke bread with Trump.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi attended the funeral procession of Iran's supreme leader last week, then shook hands in the Oval Office with President Trump this week. The 40-year-old businessman-turned-politician took office in May after a lengthy political deadlock. The White House viewed him as not dependent on Tehran's support, unlike his opponent Nouri al-Maliki.
