EchoStar Deals Worth $1.5 Billion Must be Investigated, US Says

EchoStar Corp. allegedly engaged in $1.5 billion of "unusual transactions" with its bankrupt subsidiary, Hughes Satellite Systems Corp., according to the US Trustee. The trustee urged the court to appoint an examiner to investigate the deals, raising concerns about the financial arrangements between the parent company and its struggling unit.
