Engineer Who Sabotaged Employer for Bitcoin Ransom Gets Prison Time

Daniel Rhyne, 59, of Kansas City, Missouri, received a 32-month federal prison sentence on Sept. 28 for sabotaging his employer's computer systems and demanding roughly $750,000 in bitcoin to stop the attack. Rhyne, a former infrastructure engineer at a New Jersey industrial company, pleaded guilty to the charges.
